The 27th China Mining Conference and Exhibition (CHINA MINING 2025) kicked off in Tianjin on October 23rd, with the theme of "Connect and Collaborate, Co-Build and Co-Share".
Xu Dachun, Vice Minister of Natural Resources and Director-General of China Geological Survey, Phumzile Mgcina, Deputy Minister of Mineral and Petroleum Resources of South Africa, Suina Chahuán, Vice Minister of Mining of Chile, and Farhod Arziev, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the People's Republic of China were among the attendees who delivered speeches at the opening ceremony. The event was hosted by Cheng Liwei, President of the China Mining Association.
The conference pointed out that as the global transformation unseen in a century unfolds at an accelerated pace, a new round of technological and industrial revolutions advances rapidly, the drive for energy transition gains momentum, and the demand for mineral resources from emerging industries surges. The global mining industry is currently in a crucial phase of accelerated transformation. On behalf of China's Ministry of Natural Resources, Xu Dachun put forward three initiatives. First, co-build an innovation ecosystem to inject new vitality into the development of the mining industry. It is essential to effectively coordinate mining development with ecological protection, further promote the application of emerging technologies, accelerate digital and intelligent transformation, and achieve efficient, intelligent and sustainable development of the mining industry. Second, share development fruits to create new models for mining development. Mining enterprises should be encouraged to actively fulfill their social responsibilities, extend the mineral product processing industrial chain, create more employment opportunities, and strengthen ecological restoration and governance. Third, jointly create an open pattern to unlock new opportunities for mining development. Efforts should be made to promote the alignment and mutual recognition of mining policies, industry standards and technical specifications among countries, continuously improve the level of infrastructure connectivity, launch more pragmatic cooperation projects, and advance mutually beneficial outcomes and common prosperity.
Organized by the China Mining Association, the conference ran from October 23rd to 25th. This year's event set a new record in exhibition scale since its inception and featured over 40 forums and promotion events. Directors of mining authorities and diplomatic envoys from 24 countries including Saudi Arabia attended the opening ceremony. Nearly 10,000 professionals from more than 500 enterprises across 42 countries participated in and exhibited at the conference.
